PATRONS

Patrons should handle food in a responsible manner, conscientiously clean up after themselves, and immediately report spills or other problems to library staff. In order to protect collections and equipment, minimize the burden on custodial staff, and preserve the unique nature of quiet library spaces, food is prohibited in some areas of the library.

Food preparation and food deliveries are not allowed in the library.

Overnight storage of food in lockers is prohibited.

Beverages should be covered with a lid (a cup with a lid and straw or open soda cans are considered sufficient coverings).

Food and covered beverages are allowed in the library with the following exceptions:

Food is prohibited, but covered beverages are allowed, in following spaces:

  • Level 1- Social Science (quiet area), Reynolds Auditorium and Gallery
  • Level 2- Reading Room (quiet area), Instruction Rooms
  • Level 4- Sound Recording and Video Production Studios, Viewing Rooms, Makerspace, Software Training Classroom
  • Level 5- All (quiet area)
  • All patron computer stations
  • All group study rooms

All food and beverages are prohibited in the following space:

  • Level 1- Special Collections

EVENTS

Occasionally the library sponsors special events which include food service. The event location and food guidelines are carefully selected and approved by the library administration.
